December 11, 2018 Shelton has a knack for filming the literal “Laggies” was the third film of hers I saw at the Toronto Film Festival, and after watching her self-confident turn in the great “Clouds of Sils Maria” and her excellent diner table scene in “The Equalizer,” I’m convinced that few young actors today can match her ability to be so reliably present and charitable in moments with Rockwell is the shining light of a comic savior within the film and lifts up the depressing moments of story to a entertainingly watchable movie. Laggies is a fun one-time watch for 20-somethings to realize they could be more messed up and to find the humor within the perplexities of burgeoning adulthood. Laggies feels relevant and propelling. Teens and adults may come from different planets, but they still have something in common, particularly when it comes to identity and confidence; in LAGGIES, director Lynn Shelton explores this theme with delicacy and sensitivity, as well an admirable empathy for the struggles of both teens and adults Laggies is a quiet movie, it's a romantic comedy and the drama is short, there is no depth in the subject and it becomes just a regular movie. Moretz is one of the best aspects of the film in general.
